Peppers.

I went out yesterday for a bowl of pho to make me feel better; alas, I am currently suffering from a headcold and soup seemed like the best option.  Double meat, double veg, no noodles.  It was fantastic.

However, I added two thai birdseye peppers into the soup for flavor, and accidentally picked up one with my chopsticks as I went for a large clump of bean sprouts.

There is nothing like losing half the feeling in your face due to searing, insane heat.  I very discreetly spit it all into my napkin as my wife looked at me and said, “What’s the matter?  Are you choking?”

No, I wasn’t choking, but this was probably just as bad.  It took roughly fifteen minutes before the pain was bearable.  Serves me right.
